AgriSA says the Control of Tobacco Products Bill ignores implications on agricultural livelihoods

# AgriSA says the Control of Tobacco Products and Electronic Delivery Systems Bill, in its current form, neglects to consider the broader implications on agricultural livelihoods. The legislation seeks to regulate the sale, advertising, packaging, and manufacturing of tobacco products, and to prohibit certain activities like vending machine sales and sales to minors. In its parliamentary submission, AgriSA says tobacco farming remains a vital income source for thousands of rural households, especially in provinces where alternative crops are not economically viable.
