# Acting Police minister Firoz Cachalia says the best way to honour fallen officers is to build a police service grounded in professionalism, discipline, integrity and courage. Yesterday marked the annual SAPS National Commemoration Day in Pretoria, where 12 officers who died in the line of duty between April last year and March this year were honoured. They were killed while responding to crimes, pursuing suspects or protecting others. Cachalia says action has been taken against those responsible for these murders:
