# A new South African Sorghum Bioethanol study has found strong commercial potential for bioethanol production using crops such as sorghum and sugar cane. Speaking at a roundtable in Sandton, industry leaders and farmers said clear demand, stable pricing and government support were needed before large-scale crop planting could begin. The study, commissioned by the Localisation Support Fund, says a ten-percent ethanol fuel blend could create a market of nearly one-billion litres a year and reduce South Africa’s dependence on imported oil.
