Kganyago signals early action on inflation risks

# South African Reserve Bank governor, Lesetja Kganyago, has warned that early action may be needed to curb rising inflation risks linked to global tensions. Speaking in Washington, Kganyago referenced the Battle of Rorke’s Drift, an engagement in the Anglo-Zulu War. He referenced the historical command to “wait until you see the whites of his eyes” before firing. He argued that modern central banks do not have that luxury when facing inflation. He cautioned that waiting too long could worsen inflation pressures, particularly with rising fuel costs.
