# The General Industries Workers Union of South Africa says it stands in militant opposition to the ongoing bloodbath of retrenchments across several sectors in the country. ArcellorMittal SA is set to shut down its long steel business by the end of September, resulting in three-thousand-500 job losses. Ford Motor Company SA also plans to cut 474 jobs at its plants in Pretoria and Gqeberha. GIWUSA president, Mametlwe Sebei, says government is not doing enough to protect jobs:
