Cachalia says fallen officers are symbols of sacrifice and devotion to duty [SOUND]

# Acting minister of Police, professor Firoz Cachalia, says the loss of a police officer should be considered a crime against the state. Twenty-seven police officers lost their lives in the line of duty during the 2024/2025 financial year. He spoke at the annual South African Police Service Commemoration Day at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Sunday. Cachalia says the officers who die in the line of duty are a powerful reminder of courage, sacrifice, and service to the nation:
