# The Business Council of Australia’s modelling of the costs of making emissions cuts has been criticised. The council says the country would need around nine-billion-rand in capital investment, and to potentially curb coal and gas exports, to achieve a 2035 emissions target of 70-percent or more. The Australian Conservation Foundation says the modelling misrepresents the country’s energy transition progress. It adds that it also does not factor in the costs of climate inaction, including lost productivity from disasters.
