# Makhanda Gwijo Combined, winners of the inaugural National Arts Festival Makhanda Igwijio competition, have earned a career-changing opportunity to record with the iconic a cappella trio, The Soil. Their electrifying festival performance impressed the judges, leading to an invitation to Johannesburg to feature on The Soil’s upcoming album. Supported by the Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and community fundraising, the group also toured cultural sites. The Soil praised their professionalism, describing them as born superstars.
