# George Municipality mayor, Jackie von Brandis, has received national recognition from the South African Local Government Association for Excellence in Leadership. This award was conferred on only nine female mayors across the country. The municipality’s spokesperson, Debra Sauer, says the award honours exceptional women in leadership who have demonstrated sound governance and achieved clean audit outcomes within their respective municipalities:
