Wits professor makes history by being elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences

# University of Witwatersrand and Johns Hopkins University professor of Philosophy, Lucy Allais, has made history. She is the first female South African philosopher elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Current members of the Academy represent innovative thinkers in every field and profession, including more than 250 Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners. Allais joins 16 other South African members of the Academy. Allais says she is humbled by the recognition, adding that she is committed to developing a generation of thinkers.
