# Soccer: Former England football captain, David Beckham is said to be in line for a knighthood, with King Charles’ birthday honours list of the recipients to be published next week. Beckham was awarded an Order of the British Empire in 2003. BBC Sport reports he is now in line to receive further recognition for both his football career and his contributions to British society. The 50-year-old Beckham retired in 2013 after playing 115 times for his country as well as for Manchester United, LA Galaxy, Paris St-Germain and AC Milan.
