# The DA lost a ward to the MK Party in KwaZulu-Natal and retained a seat in Gauteng. The Electoral Commission says the DA’s Martin Brown won the by-election in ward 6 in the Rand West Municipality. Voter turnout was just 27-percent. In KwaZulu-Natal, MK’s Mandla Biyela won the by-election in ward 110 in the Ethekwini Municipality. Voter turnout was just 33.5-percent. The seat was previously won by the DA in the 2021 local government elections.
