Cape Town’s art scene boosts CBD economy and attracts global appeal

# Cape Town’s booming art scene is revitalising the CBD economy. This was proven as the 12th Cape Town Art Fair drew over 30-thousand visitors and featured 124 exhibitors from 58 countries. Events like First Thursdays and growing gallery numbers reflect a post-pandemic cultural surge. According to the Cape Town central city improvement district, 19 new studios opened in 2023. Experts say the metro’s creative economy has over the years attracted investment, supported jobs, and strengthened Cape Town’s global reputation as Africa’s contemporary art capital.
