# Consumer inflation increased to 3.2-percent in January, the first calculated according to an adjusted basket of goods. The data from Statistics SA shows meat prices have been decreasing for the third month in a row. The price of cereal products increased at an annual rate of 3.8-percent. Stats SA’s chief director of price statistics, Patrick Kelly, says the prices of some staple foods have increased further:
