Cryptocurrency giant Binance probing a suspected hack affecting over R100 billion in assets

# The world’s largest crypto exchange, Binance, has suspended all deposits and withdrawals as it investigates a potential 104.77 billion-rand security breach. The company says the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorised withdrawal transactions. Binance, which allows users to buy, sell and trade digital assets, has 335 million registered users globally. Two other major crypto platforms, Tether and Circle, have frozen their funds in response to the potential Binance hack.
