# International Monetary Fund chief Kristalina Georgieva has warned that artificial intelligence could pose greater risks than benefits without proper safeguards and an ethical framework. Speaking at the IMF and World Bank meetings in Bangkok, she said AI was already boosting the global economy but could also cause harm if its promised productivity gains failed to materialise. Georgieva called for governments and technology companies to work together on safeguards. She said countries leading AI development, including the United States, China and India, should help establish common standards.
