# Rescuers in Sardinia have freed a man who was trapped in a cave for 26 hours after a rockfall blocked his exit. The 40-year-old was exploring a cave near Baunei on the Italian island when rocks collapsed around him on Sunday. Specialist rescue teams worked through the night to reach him. He was eventually brought to safety and taken to hospital for checks. Officials say he was conscious and did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
