Investigation finds toxic contaminants in nearly all cat food tested

# Nearly all cat foods tested in a new investigation contained toxic contaminants, including plastic chemicals, the weedkiller glyphosate and heavy metals such as lead, mercury and arsenic. The investigation by the Clean Label Project found cats could be exposed to these substances throughout their lives because they often eat the same food every day. Researchers warn the contaminants can build up in cats’ bodies. They say this is concerning because heavy metals can damage the kidneys, while chronic kidney disease is one of the most common causes of death in older cats.
