# The South African Federation of Trade Unions has expressed outrage at the continuing loss of mineworkers’ lives at Harmony Gold. Forty-six mineworkers have died at Harmony operations over the past five years, including eight workers this year already. In the latest incident, a worker died after a seismic event underground at the Mponeng mine in the West Rand of Gauteng last week.
