# The National Union of Mineworkers has expressed solidarity with the people of Nepal following devastating flash floods along the Nepal-China border. More than one-thousand-200 people have died, while about four-thousand remain missing as search and rescue operations continue. NUM general-secretary Mpho Phakedi has called on the international community and the South African government to provide urgent humanitarian assistance. He says thousands of families have been displaced, with many left without shelter, food and medicine.
