# President Cyril Ramaphosa says the automotive industry is vital to the government’s efforts to grow the economy, expand exports, attract investment and create jobs. He delivered the keynote address at the Volkswagen Group Africa 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner in Kariega, Nelson Mandela Bay, Eastern Cape yesterday evening. Over the past 75 years, Volkswagen’s Kariega plant has produced nearly 40 different models and has built more than 4.8-million vehicles.
