# Cabinet says government is preparing for the registration and introduction of a new tuberculosis vaccine, should ongoing Phase Three trials prove successful. Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says the M72/AS01E candidate is being tested in South Africa and other countries and it aims to prevent active pulmonary tuberculosis in adolescents and adults. It will be the first new tuberculosis vaccine introduced in over a century:
