Former chairperson of American Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan dies at 100

# The longtime chairperson of the US Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, has died at the age of 100. His wife of 29 years, Andrea Mitchell, says he died at their home from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Greenspan became one of the most influential economic policymakers of his era after being appointed chairperson by president Ronald Reagan in 1987. He held the position until retiring in 2006. Greenspan’s tenure was the second longest, four months short of that of William McChesney Martin, who served from 1951 to 1970.
