# The City of Cape Town says its first Advanced Water Reclamation Plant is on track with the civil works completed in December 2024. The state-of-the-art plant is a vital part of the metro’s groundwater action plan to secure alternative water supply sources. Mayoral committee member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, says groundwater is one of the alternative water sources that the metro is investing in, to ensure that water supply can withstand future climate change like drought:
