# Western Cape Social Development MEC, Jaco Londt, is urging residents to protect the dignity of older persons by honouring their rights and prioritising their wellbeing. Today is International Day for Older Persons, being marked under the theme, Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Our Well-Being and Our Rights. Londt says funding for the department’s Older Persons Programme has increased from 231-million-rand in 2024/2025 to 254-million-rand in 2025/2026 financial year:
