Western Cape Health Department urges public to avoid wild mushrooms [SOUND]

# The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness warns residents not to eat wild mushrooms following a rise in deadly mushroom poisoning cases. The department says even one bite of a Death Cap mushroom can cause liver failure and death. The Tygerberg Poisons Information Director, Carine Marks, advises anyone who has eaten a wild mushroom to seek immediate medical attention, even if they have no symptoms:
