Water pollution fund proposed to safeguard resources

# The Association for Water and Sanitation Institutions of South Africa is calling for a National Water Pollution Fund. Association chairperson Ramateu Monyokolo warns worsening pollution threatens long-term water security. Monyokolo cites failing infrastructure, industrial waste and illegal dumping as key drivers. He stressed that the proposed fund would finance clean-up efforts and upgrades, while tougher penalties aim to hold polluters accountable and protect communities and ecosystems.
