UWC study warns Cape Town groundwater levels are declining

# A University of the Western Cape study revealed groundwater levels in Cape Town are declining as the dry period continues. With dams at 47.8-percent in April, researcher Sesethu Fikileni warns that careful management is needed to avoid stricter water restrictions. He says dual-layer modelling is essential to ensure sustainable groundwater use and prevent overuse during droughts and extreme weather events:
