UWC research shows only 11% of South Africa’s commercial farmland has been transferred through land reform [SOUND]

# The University of the Western Cape’s Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies says there is a consistent decline in South Africa’s land reform budget, raising concerns about the government’s commitment to land justice. The research shows that only 11-percent of South Africa’s commercial farmland has been transferred through land reform since the 1990s, far from the original 30-percent target set in 1994. Researcher, Nkanyiso Gumede says in the national budget announced on Wednesday, only 0.4-percent was budgeted for land reform:
