UNICEF says children are more than twice as likely to die from Ebola as adults in the DRC

# The United Nations Children’s Fund says children, making up 15-percent of confirmed cases and over 25-percent of deaths since the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo in April, are almost twice as likely to die as adults. The DRC has surpassed one-thousand Ebola cases and 254 confirmed deaths. UNICEF chief, Catherine Russell, says over 130 children have already lost one or both parents in Ituri. She says children are especially vulnerable because they depend on caregivers and cannot distance themselves from a sick parent, as an adult can.
