# The UN Trade and Development organisation says Africa was the only developing continent to record trade growth in the first half of 2025. Exports rose by five-percent and intra-African trade jumped by 16-percent. In contrast, global South-to-South trade, which is trade among developing countries, stagnated, and imports dropped by two-percent. While global trade grew by 5.3-trillion-rand, it was driven largely by developed nations, including a 14-percent surge in US imports. The organisation warns of trade fragmentation risks due to tariffs and urges policy clarity to sustain fragile global trade resilience.
