# The United Nations says the Sudan war is, at its core, a failure of protection to uphold international law. Sudanese rebels have driven government forces from El Fasher, the last stronghold of the country’s regime in the western Darfur region. Estimates suggest that more than 150-thousand people have died due to the conflict.
