# A research team from the University of Johannesburg has launched the Buysdorp Water Security Project in Buysdorp Village, Limpopo. The project aims to reshape how communities think about, test, and preserve their most precious resource, water. Buysdorp is a small heritage settlement that faces chronic water scarcity. Researcher Lee-Ann Sade Modley says, alongside water testing, hydrogeologists are assessing the long-term feasibility of groundwater extraction as a sustainable supply for the village:
