# The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Climate Change says teams were deployed to contain an oil spill affecting Umm Al Quwain’s beaches. This comes days after a tanker was struck by a projectile off the coast. Teams immediately began containment, cordoning, clean-up and remediation to limit environmental impacts. The ministery adds the emirate’s beaches had been closed. Frequent attacks on ships have been reported near the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks.
