Tshwane’s multiparty coalition submits draft budget for public consultation

# Tshwane mayor Nasipi Moya says the multiparty coalition has submitted the first fully funded draft budget since 2021. It proposes a reduction in property rates of 4-percent to mitigate increased property values in the new valuation roll. The budget includes hikes for electricity of 12-percent and water of 13-percent, both lower than the increases by Eskom and Rand Water. Sanitation will cost 6-percent more and refuse removal goes up by 4.6-percent. The city will also charge a monthly cleaning levy of 185-rand for those who make use of private refuse collection.
