Tourism committee calls for greater support for township, village tourism

# Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Tourism chairperson Ronalda Nalumango has urged the government to ensure township and village tourism entrepreneurs are not excluded from the sector’s growth. Nalumango says tourism should be measured by the jobs, businesses and opportunities it creates in underserved communities, not only by visitor numbers to major cities. While welcoming the sector’s strong recovery, she emphasised that more funding should support local infrastructure, enterprise development and market access to ensure tourism delivers inclusive economic growth across South Africa.
