Tennis: Wawrinka, Tsitsipas and Shapovalov knocked out of the Monte-Carlo Masters

# Tennis: 2014 champion Stan Wawrinka has been knocked out of the Monte-Carlo Masters, going down 7-5, 7-5 to wildcard Sebastian Baez of Argentina in the first round. The 41-year-old Swiss will retire from tennis at the end of the season. Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo defeated three-time champion Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, 7-5, 6-4, while Belgium’s Alexander Blockx battled past Canadian Denis Shapovalov, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Russia’s Andrey Rublev, who won his maiden Masters 1000 title in Monte-Carlo in 2024, secured a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 victory over Portuguese Nuno Borges.
