# Tennis: World number five Jasmine Paolini is vying to become the first local women’s champion of the Italian Open in four decades when she takes on American Coco Gauff in the final in Rome this afternoon. The previous local champion was Raffaella Reggi in 1985, while Paolini already became the first Italian in the final since her doubles partner, Sara Errani, in 2014. Gauff, currently third in the world rankings, beat Paolini twice in their three previous encounters. The men’s final will be decided tomorrow.
