Tennis: Alcaraz defends Japanese Open title against Lehecka

# Tennis: World number three, Carlos Alcaraz, is the new Japanese Open champion. He defeated Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic within 96 minutes in straight sets in the final at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, defending his crown from last year. This handed the 23-year-old his first tour-level trophy since Doha in February. Alcaraz is only the third man to successfully defend his title in Tokyo after Stefan Edberg of Sweden, who won from 1988 to 1991, and the champion in 1993 and ’94, American Pete Sampras.
