# Trade, Industry and Competition minister Parks Tau has reaffirmed that participation in the proposed 100-billion-rand Transformation Fund will be voluntary. Aimed at enhancing black economic empowerment impact, the fund will consolidate enterprise development funding from listed and private firms. Tau insists it’s a collaborative effort, not a forced policy. Tau says the fund will focus on rural and township development, and plans to support black-owned businesses. The fund is still open for public comment until 28 May.
