# Former police officer and alleged rhino poaching syndicate mastermind Joseph Nyalungu has been shot and killed in Mpumalanga. Reports say Nyalungu was attacked at his business premises near Mkhuhlu Crossroads, just over a week after surviving a previous shooting at the same location. The controversial alleged underworld figure operated in and around the Kruger National Park. He faced multiple charges linked to rhino poaching, organised crime and explosives. Police have not yet confirmed arrests, and investigations into the killing are continuing.
