Study finds policy uncertainty threatens SA’s clean energy funding

# A new study titled South Africa’s Energy Sector Investment Requirements to Achieve Energy Security and Net Zero Emissions by 2050, finds that green industrialisation is the most affordable path to energy security and decarbonisation. Jointly released by the Presidential Climate Commission, National Planning Commission, amongst others, it envisions 85-percent of power from renewables supported by gas and battery storage. The report estimates 3.5-trillion-rand in investment and warns that policy uncertainty could create funding gaps without stronger coordination and investor confidence.
