# According to Statistics South Africa, manufacturing production fell by 1.5-percent in August compared to the same month last year. The decline was mainly driven by iron and steel, metal products, machinery, and food and beverages. Stats SA’s Nicolai Claassen says manufacturing sales also showed gains, increasing 0.6-percent from July and three-percent over the past three months, with the same sectors contributing most to the growth:
