# South Africa is honouring 12 police officers who died in the line of duty between April 2025 and March 2026. Acting National Police Commissioner Puleng Dimpane described the annual SAPS Commemoration Day in Pretoria as solemn, remembering their courage and sacrifice. Speaking to the SABC, she says police safety measures has reduced deaths, but the goal is zero fatalities. Dimpane is encouraging the youth to join the police to fight crime:
