# Soccer: Former Manchester United and Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth had been appointed as English governing body the F-A’s first chief soccer official. He worked for the association for six years previously, but will now take on the role which was created to provide oversight over the country’s men’s and women’s teams. Ashworth will also be in charge of the regerenation of the St George’s Park stadium in Burton-on-Trent, which will be used as one of the pitches during the UEFA European Championship in 2028.
