# The Security Personnel Party of South Africa is calling on municipalities to clear overgrown bushes and fix broken street lights nationally as neglected areas provide cover for criminals. The party’s president and founder, Sello Mashula, says this is particularly concerning following bodies found in overgrown areas in Ekurhuleni. Mashula also called for the state of abandoned buildings, neglected land owned by state entities and private companies to be addressed. He says cleaner, better-lit routes could improve safety, while acknowledging this alone will not end crime.
