# According to Section27 and the Treatment Action Campaign’s new report, women in the Eastern Cape and Limpopo face serious barriers in accessing safe and legal abortion services. The report highlights shortages of trained healthcare workers, limited operational facilities, medicine shortages, poor infrastructure and weak referral systems, particularly in rural areas. The organisations claim these failures are delaying care, forcing women to travel long distances or be turned away, and sometimes causing them to miss the legal time limit for abortions.
