SCA grants NPA leave to appeal in ANC’s Mike Mabuyakhulu corruption case

# The Supreme Court of Appeal has granted the National Prosecuting Authority leave to appeal a previous ruling that discharged corruption, fraud, and money laundering charges against former KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Mike Mabuyakhulu. Newzroom Afrika reports that the case relates to the 2012 North Sea Jazz Festival, which never took place despite the department paying 28-million-rand to the organising company, Soft Skills Communications. The state argues the trial court erred in discharging the accused.
