SARS Commissioner urges China to invest in local manufacturing

# The South African Revenue Services Commissioner Edward Kiesewetter is urging China to invest in local manufacturing. Speaking during a meeting with the Chinese ambassador Wu Peng in Pretoria, Kiesewetter said he would like to see South Africa not only as a marketplace for Chinese products, but as a destination for the assembly and manufacturing of goods by Chinese investors. So far this year South Africa has imported 60-billion-rand more in Chinese goods than it exported. More than 90% of South African exports to China are mining commodities. South Africa buys mostly machinery, clothing and vehicles from China.
