SANParks launches food security programme in Swellendam

# South African National Parks, in partnership with the Railton Foundation, launched a Greening and Food Security Programme in Swellendam, Western Cape. The programme aims to improve food security and create sustainable livelihoods through community food production, skills development, and local economic opportunities. SANParks provided a greenhouse, irrigation infrastructure, gardening tools and other equipment. SANParks’ JP Louw says Swellendam Municipality is supporting the project through access to the existing “leiwater” system. He says the initiative supports home gardeners, feeding schemes, and local employment.
